The Forum car park, Horsham
Horsham District Council had for several years been receiving complaints from members of the public about the mess caused by pigeons nesting and roosting inside the entrance to the Forum car park on Blackhorse Way. On 3 March 2011, the site was cleaned of accumulated pigeon droppings and 21 tubes of Bird Free were applied. There has been no sign of the pigeons returning since. Testimonial Having monitored the car park for two weeks after Bird Free was installed, Martin Rosier, Horsham District Council’s senior pest control officer, commented: “For pigeons to completely desert a habitat they had been frequenting for years flies in the face of all the knowledge of pigeons and their roosting habits I have gained over 27 years in pest control. Even where physical barriers such as spikes and nets are installed, pigeons will typically still attempt to return to their roosts. By contrast, with this new gel they simply don’t want to know. It is not overstating the case to say that I am astonished at the results.”

The Roof Gardens, Kensington
Virgin’s world-famous Roof Gardens offer an idyllic setting for dining, film shoots and other private events in the heart of London, high above Kensington High Street. The exotic nature of the Roof Gardens’ flora and fauna, which include resident flamingos, means that controlling feral pigeons is of paramount importance. Bird Free was applied to the roof of a newly built structure at The Roof Gardens on 19 October 2010. Despite the heavy snows experienced over the course of the ensuing winter, Bird Free has continued to do its job of keeping the pigeons away. Testimonial Five months after the installation of Bird Free, David Lewis, The Roof Gardens’ head gardener, commented: “We have been using Bird Free to keep pigeons off one of our exposed roof areas for about five months now, and have found it to be both unobtrusive and extremely effective. We now plan to use Bird Free in other parts of The Roof Gardens.”

Covent Garden Market
A favourite spot for Londoners and tourists to wine and dine al fresco, the rooves of Covent Garden Market also provide a perfect vantage point from which pigeons can swoop down and grab leftover food. On 3 August 2011, 16 tubes of Bird Freewere applied to the north-west corner of the Market above an outdoor restaurant. While pigeons can still be seen in abundance on all the surrounding buildings, the installation site remains pigeon-free. Testimonial Ryedale District Council’s health and environment manager, had heard about the Bird Freeinstallation at Covent Garden Market through the Yorkshire and Humberside Pest Liaison Group. He visited London in late August and went to have a look for himself. “I was in London during the August Bank Holiday and decided to make a diversion to Covent Garden to undertake a reality check on the pigeons and the effectiveness of the JJBio Optical Gel. While hardly a scientific study, as can be clearly seen from the photo [last photo shown on right] there were no pigeons on the building that was shown to us that received the treatment, but there are plenty on the buildings in the background.”.
